Studying again & other updates

I'm retaking the BEC portion of the CPA exam on Thursday, February 26th. I'm really nervous and as of now, I don't feel nearly prepared enough. I'm planning to study a TON tonight, tomorrow and every day after work. I'm also taking Wednesday off work to stay home and cram. Please pray for my memory, stress level, and motivation!

I spent the last 2 weeks in LA on a client I've worked on for 4 years now. I'm finally done, and I never have to see that horrible client again! YAY!! Before that I was working from my office in San Jose for a week, and before that I was working in Sausalito for 2 weeks! I've been traveling way too much and I'm happy to finally be home!

My beautiful, perfect nephew Landon John was born on Monday, February 9! I've only seen him twice since he was born. I missed his birth because I was in LA so I saw him Friday night and Sunday last weekend. I'm going to take a study break for a family dinner at my parent's house tonight, so I get to see him in a few short hours. I'll definitely post pictures after my exam on Thursday.

Another update - I still haven't heard from the pervert caller since January 11. I think my police report threat was effective!

Peace and love.

just a little misunderstanding...

The other night during dinner with the family we somehow ended up on the topic of Disneyland. My step-brother, the Santa Clara University educated, Jeopardy know-it-all, pre-law school genius said, "My friend told me Disneyland is free on my birthday." I thought he was referring to the fact that Disneyland has started a new promotion where admission is free if you go on your birthday, but I was surprised when he continued with, "What a weird day for Disneyland to be free..."

Perv Update

I haven't heard from Mr. pervert since January 11. He called twice that night. The first time he called I hit the ignore button and the second time he called I answered. I said, "Listen dude, what you're doing is illegal. I have filed a police report, so I hope you get arrested." He hung up immediately and I haven't heard from him since. Only time will tell if that got him off my case. Of course I haven't heard a peep from the police department since filing the police report. I'm out of town this week at a client's office, so I'll give them a call next week to see if they're doing anything in response to my report.

Left a piece of my heart there

I spent the weekend in Southern California for a wedding. The wedding was in Newport Beach, but I stayed with my good friends in Redondo Beach. As I was driving away from my friends' house this evening to head to the airport, I felt very sad and almost teared up a bit. It's weird to admit, but I do miss Los Angeles. Parts of the city truly are beautiful, and I have a lot of friends there whom I dearly love and miss. It feels like I'm leaving part of my life behind. That chapter is over, and it's very bittersweet.

Peace and love.

So much love to give

It's everywhere... romance and marriage and love and kissing and sex. It's on TV, on the street, in the movies, all my friends are in relationships... I totally cannot relate with any of that right now. I'm single. I've pretty much always been single. I'm so over it. My Grandma tells me every chance she has that she prays for me everyday, and I'm 99% sure she's praying that I find a man and get married and have babies. Like, NOW. It's everywhere. It's all around me. All this good stuff that I don't have. I'm not complaining like I'm desperate, I'm just saying I'm annoyed.

My outlook has changed recently about all this love stuff. I used to feel like I desperately wanted someone to love me; to be in love with me. Of course I still want someone to love me, but now I feel that I yearn to love someone else. I feel like I'm welling up with love to give. This is a relatively recent realization that came to me a couple weeks ago. I was spending some quality time in the kitchen, which i very rarely do. I guess I just don't feel like it's worth it to just cook for me. So when I was making my clam chowder from scratch - figuring out how to friggin cook bacon for the first time - a thought came to me... I enjoy cooking for other people. I think when I'm in a relationship and when I get married I will definitely want to cook for my husband and family. I think it will be vary satisfying to give and to provide for him. I've felt this is the past with a couple guys I have dated and made dinner for, but I never really processed the thoughts until now. I'm yearning to have someone who I can love and I can cook for and I can take care of. I have so much love to give. It's like my heart is full, but at the same time incomplete.

This afternoon I was spending time with one of my best girlfriends, sharing these thoughts with her. She and her husband, whom I introduced her to, were married in November. She shared that she agrees; she really enjoys taking care of her husband and being able to provide for him in certain ways.

One of my favorite quotes is from When Harry Met Sally: "When you find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

In other news, my nephew Landon should be arriving any day now! As of this afternoon, his mom was dilated to 1 cm and having contractions every 15 minutes. That sounds pretty darn serious to me; like he'd be coming today or tomorrow, but her comment was "The contractions are only 15 minutes apart, so I think we have a while to wait still." (I obviously don't know anything about being pregnant and giving birth!) I have a feeling that I'm going to love Landon more than I've loved any one else before him. :)

Peace and love.
